Round 3 & 4 North American Super Treofeo Series, Watkin’s Glenn International

June 25-27, 2015

Round 3 and 4 was held at the famous Watkin’s Glenn International Raceway, home of the US Grand Prix in the 60’and 70”s. This famed race track with a steeped history, built in 1940’s, is located at the beautiful “finger lakes” region of upstate New York.

Team Paragon Competition, practiced well, and prepared for the qualifying rounds on Friday. Morning Qualifying went well, Paul Taylor of the #15 Blue Chem Canada Super Trofeo was on pace. The afternoon qualifications went well, Joe Chan was also on pace, and put the Gallardo in P3 for the AM class.

Joe reported the front end of the car was not behaving as it should, upon tear down and inspection, the technicians noticed a leak in the front differential. The crew had found the bolts holding the internal gear housing had failed, this meant we had to install a new differential unit. With time to spare, the crew did a fantastic job and got the car onto the starting grid.

The #15 Blue Chem Canada Super Trofeo, ran flawlessly and worked its way up to P3, looking for a P2 battle approaching the halfway mark. Paul brought the car in for the mandatory pit stop, 4 new tires and drivers change, leaving the pits in P4. Multiple full course yellows from various crashes on track meant there was no over taking, until the 10 minute remaining mark, Joe took this opportunity to catch up with P3 to make the pass, putting the #15 Blue Chem Canada Super Trofeo on the 3rd step of the podium, collecting and closing the gap for the AM class championship.

Round 4 was cancelled on Saturday, due to heavy rain, IMSA had decided to shut down the track due to standing water on multiple corners of the race track. Round 4 will be run at a later date, stay tune!
